If you loved Guardians of the Galaxy, you will definitely love the second volume!
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 begins with Peter Quill AKA 'Star Lord' and the rest of the gang fighting off invaders because they have been hired to protect batteries by the Sovereign race - who are a powerful race that nobody wants to mess with. However, after the Guardians have been paid and are leaving on their spaceship, it is discovered that Rocket has in fact stolen the batteries they were paid to guard, so the Sovereign race send an entire fleet to gain revenge.

As the Guardians are trying to escape a mysterious figure helps them out, who later reveals himself to be Quill's father, Ego. The Guardians had to crash land on a nearby planet during their escape, but Ego offers to take Quill, Gamora and Drax to his home planet - leaving Rocket and Groot behind to fix the ship, and guard their prisoner, Nebula, Gamora's sister. In the meantime, the leader of the Sovereign race hires Yondu to track down and recapture the Guardians, and he is hot on the tail of Rocket and Groot.

Whilst on Ego's home planet, he explains to the other Guardians that he is a Celestial, which is a god-like being, and had travelled the universe over and over trying to find a purpose before he fell in love with Quill's mother on Earth. When Quill's mother died, Ego paid Yondu to collect and deliver Quill to him, but Yondu kept Quill and trained him up as a thief instead. But, now Ego has finally found his son and quickly helps Quill to manipulate their celestial power together.

All seems to good to be true, and it is for Quill. Ego has a pet empath called Mantis who warns Drax and Gamora about Ego's ill intentions. At the same time Ego confesses to Quill about how he has impregnated many woman across thousands of worlds/planets in the attempt to access the offspring's Celestial power but each one came to no avail until Quill.

Rocket and Groot turn up with Yondu and with the all the Guardians reunited they try to defeat Ego by blowing up his brain at the centre of the planet. Yondu sacrifices himself so the rest of the Guardians can escape on the ship as the planet explodes - which leads Quill to realise that Yondu was in fact his real father all this time

Now if that doesn't sound like another epic adventure for the Guardians of the Galaxy, then I don't know what does! Throughout the story there are a lot of hilariously funny moments, and a lot of them coming from Groot's character (who is my favourite). I recall laughing a lot more through this film than the first Guardians of the Galaxy. And the soundtrack is just as amazing as the first one, featuring some classic hits from Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick and Silver. I thoroughly recommend a watch, especially if you are a fan of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, I guarantee you won't be disappointed with this one.

I'd rate it 9 out of 10.

Have you see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 yet and what did you think?
